Dennis McNutt created -- and patented -- this nifty cradle, and has partnered with a larger accessories company to manufacture them. It's a new take on the bass stand. Rather than holding it upright, this stand allows you to simply "lean" the bass into the stand; the endpin supports the bottom, and the arms of the cradle support the body. An excellent stand for use onstage, since it takes up very little room, and is also lightweight and eminently transportable. It even comes with its own gig bag!

The stand easily opens into a tripod, with easy slip-on braces. It has a small footprint, and shouldn't get in the way. To put your bass in the stand, simply put the bass down on its endpin, and lean the bass over so that the small support arm is supporting the inside of the C-bout (the center cut-out) on the G-side (if you're right-handed.) The cradle will support and secure the bass, making it easy to pick it back up again. To get a better idea of how to put the bass in the stand, check out Dennis' own YouTube video, embedded at the bottom of this description.

The stand is made of black aluminium, with soft padding wherever your instrument contacts the stand.

Wow, shipping seems kind of high, Mark. What gives?

Yeah... so there's that. Paying for shipping stinks, but it's a part of the convenience of getting things sent to you. And giant companies with unending financing and no obligation to actually turn a profit have made it difficult for small businesses like us to compete with the new paradigm of "fast, free shipping."

Unfortunately for both of us, the charges we've had to assign to the cradle are based in reality. Shipping is a real cost, and we don't just randomly make the charges up; the shipping charge is based on actual costs to ship a package by UPS from New Jersey to your home.

Here's the reason that this particular product seems a bit outside the norm: now that UPS (and FedEx) uses "dimensional weight," -- a change that they made starting in 2015 -- they charge us to ship it as if it were a 30 lb. package, because it exceeds a certain box size. This, despite the fact that the cradle only weighs about 4 lbs (we've tried to make its shipping size smaller, but because of the way the stand folds, there's just no way to do so).

And of course, this means that the acquisition of those stands is more costly as well, as I also have to pay UPS or FedEx to bring them to me, before I can even ship them to you.

Let me know if you have any questions about this -- sometimes I can shave a few dollars off of shipping, especially if you're ordering several items at once. I'm sorry that the cost of shipping can get a little high! -- Mark
