Description
This flight case is designed custom-manufactured by our case-manufacturing partner specifically to carry your Eminence Electric Upright Bass - either the FIXED NECK model, or the Removable Neck Model (while still fully assembled).
It's a trunk style case made from plywood, laminated with ABS plastic in an attractive silver-gray color, with a hinged lid. It features three recessed latches (one has a padlock hole for locking) and multiple recessed handles. Big rubber feet are on the bottom surface, and recessed rubber "rollerblade" style wheels are on the bottom corners, mounted out wide for stability. A top end handle lets you pull the case easily behind you with one hand, and another handle on the bottom end for handling by two people carrying from each end. Finally, there's also a side-mounted handle for a more traditional lift/carry.
The case is lined with firm and dense ester foam to protect your valuable instrument, and featuring two large hook & loop tiedown straps to hold the instrument securely, even during rough handling.
It has room inside to hold a full-size Eminence EUB (Fixed or Removable Neck model, 4 or 5 string) inside its padded gig bag. This is great, because if you're traveling, you can bring the ATA-style case to protect the instrument, but then leave the heavy case in your hotel room and just grab the bass in the gig bag (as usual) to tote it around locally for performances and rehearsals.
Dimensions/weight
- 67"/170 cm long
- 17"/43.25 cm wide
- 13"/33 cm deep
- With the bass and bag in it, it weighs around 68 lbs. It's about 48.5 lbs, empty.
Make no mistake - this case is big and heavy; it has to be, to accommodate (and properly protect) the Eminence bass. But if you're looking to travel with a fixed-neck bass, until now, there hasn't been a travel case option available. Now there is, and this is it. Also, we call it "ATA style" because we have not officially registered this case for approval by the ATA. But know that it is made similarly to other ATA-rated cases - it's an "Anvil" style case - so we're confident of its ability to handle air travel.
IMPORTANT
I strongly recommend that if you intend to fly commercially with your bass using this case, that you make arrangements ahead of time to find out what size/weight limitations may affect you, and to be aware of what potential surcharges may apply.
This case is not manufactured by Eminence; it was specially commissioned from a custom case manufacturer by Gollihur Music and is exclusively available from us.
