Description
The stock strings for the OmniBass from NS Design are a punchy, bright-timbred string. While - in my opinion - they sound kind of "electric," they certainly have their proponents, and they do work well in a lot of contexts. You can also use many long-scale bass guitar strings on the OmniBass, but most of those also have similar characteristics, and bowability is sometimes compromised by the highly polished way most flatwound electric bass strings are made.
But if you wanted a string that sounds a bit more "authentic" to the tone of a "real" upright bass, the pickins have been pretty slim.
Once again, the problem solvers at Gollihur Music are here for you!
Lenzner strings of Germany has graciously offered to custom-make a set of more "traditionally-minded" strings - for both 4 and 5-string models - for the 34" NS OmniBass instruments. They're made more like "real" upright bass strings, but are in the 34" scale length used by the Omni Bass. We're getting these strings by special order, and are very happy to (again) be the shop that goes out of our way to get those "special" items you can't seem to find anywhere else.
These strings are legit upright-style strings; they work both pizz and arco, with a flexible steel core, tungsten intermediate winding and flat outer winding, suitable for bowing. Strings are made in a 34" scale set in standard tuning (EADG for the 4-string, BEADG - low B - for the 5-string).
Because these are special-order strings from Germany, we only offer these as complete sets - no single strings.
Note: These are primarily provided for the NS OmniBass, but should also fit many 34" scale bass guitars. We also have a version of these strings for tuning in fifths, cello-style (but in the bass range) - check out our strings listing in the main catalog menu.
