Description

Allergy Advisory: Product Contains NickelThese strings can essentially be considered the smaller-scale version of the 380 series strings for 3/4 size bass. They are made with nickel, which compared to the 350 series strings (which use tungsten/steel), are a little less "brash" and "bright" for a warmer, more traditional sound. I find them to be more flexible, less stiff that typical "student" strings, so I can really dig in.

While similar in design, the 300 strings are a bit thicker in diameter than the 350 strings because they are wrapped with nickel (compared to the use of Tungsten Steel in the 350's, resulting in higher mass).

Overall, they have a generally darker, "woodier" sound than the 350's - while made of metals, they don't have a very "metallic" sound... but they do have plenty of sustain. The string surface is not as smoothly finished as the 350's. They work well for pizzicato (plucking), with good volume overall, but if you prefer a "big, powerful bottom end," you might find the E string a bit lacking. For arco (bowing), they seem to bow as easily as the 350's (though this can vary depending on your rosin and your ability).

The 300 strings from Corelli can be a very good choice for students and/or players on a budget who need a solid "hybrid" string.

Did I mention they are made in France by Savarez, and that Francois Rabbath was involved in their development?
