Description
This replacement nut blank is made of quality ebony. It has been profiled and shaped, as shown in the photo, but will certainly need to be further trimmed, notched, and shaped to fit your particular instrument; there is no such thing as an exact replacement, as basses differ from one another.
The nut is the piece of wood at the top of the fingerboard over which the strings travel to the pegbox.

ebony nut blank
Be prepared to spend some time shaping this. It is very hard and very dense wood. I used this to replace the ebonized nut on my '39 Kay. the original nut had been grooved out too deeply causing some buzzing. New nut set to the proper height eliminated that issue.

Excellent quality nut. Good ebony machined to basic shape
Very satisfied. As is normal, it will require fitting to neck and filing string grooves. Sure beats making one from scratch!
