Description

These Gewa padded gig bags are really nice, and really well made. Using genuine Cordura® outer wrap and heavy-duty stitching, you can feel confident that the bags will be up to any (reasonable) abuse that you subject them to - all in the name of protecting your bass.

Both the Prestige (deluxe) model and the Premium (standard) model feature padded backpack straps, which are adjustable (but not removable).

Both versions (Premium and Prestige) of the bag include:

  • Added protection on endpin, bridge and scroll
  • Skid pads on outside contact points
  • Bow pocket suitable for most bow cases
  • Multiple strong, padded handles for maneuvering the instrument
  • Dual zipper design (they meet at the endpin opening) for easy on/off
  • Large sheet music and accessory pockets
  • Attached (adjustable) backpack (aka rucksack) straps
  • Reflective strips on back and front
  • Safety straps on either side of the reinforced endpin opening
  • Genuine CORDURA® Material

Prestige Model (3/4 only - contact us for availability of other sizes) features:

  • 25 mm tricot interior padding
  • YKK brand zippers
  • Bow pocket reinforced with wooden shell

The differences, in a nutshell: As mentioned above, the Premium model features 10 mm Tricot interior padding, which is a very common density for general-duty padded cases. The Prestige model upgrades to 25mm padding - for a much cushier case - and also specifies YKK-branded zippers. The bow pocket is also reinforced with a sturdy, upholstered wooden shell, which is removable if you'd rather use a bow case in its place.

INTERNAL MEASUREMENTS

Both bags use the same measurements, and generally fit most common instruments; but bass sizes can vary depending on the interpretations of the manufacturer. It's very important that you measure your bass to ensure fitment before ordering. We probably cannot tell you if your bass will fit, even if you tell us the make and model. Please use the information below to determine whether the case will work for you!

    Great bag for the price

Posted by Evan Gerber on Jan 19th 2022

I purchased the 4/4 size bag with the 25mm padding. It isn't easy to find decent, reasonable bags for larger basses, so the fact that they offer this is a major plus. I'm very happy with it overall. All of the zippers, webbing, handles, and other exterior materials seem tough, seems like it should be a durable bag. I has some great design features as well. The bow pocket with a padded wooden shell inside is a great idea, eliminates the need for a separate bow case. Pockets are all good, lots of storage. Case is reinforced at appropriate places. I like the design at the bottom where the endpin sticks out--zipper reinforced by straps so that it doesn't pull apart over time. Smart. It is a little on the bulky side--I think they make it slightly over-sized since basses vary in dimensions. And if I could get a bag with denser but thinner padding, I would. But I don't think you can expect to get a fitted 7/8 bag with these features in this price range. Finally, there are a couple of design features that could be improved. I wish the shoulder straps were removeable. I never use them, and they get in the way when you're trying to open the music pocket on the back. I also wish the handles on the sides were positioned slightly lower and turned side to side rather than lengthwise. I like to carry the bass using one of these handles with the neck supported on my shoulder--if you do the same, you will find the handle placement a little awkward. Overall, a good bag for the price, provides good protection for your bass.
