Description

The basic design of this bag resembles that of a "deluxe" bag we once carried several years ago. These bags have thick, protective padding and a durable woven shell with skid pads, backpack straps, a shoulder strap, two bow pockets... this thing is LOADED! While our standard mid-level bags are great for the "weekend warrior," people with more rigorous gigging schedules and/or more valuable/fragile basses may want to opt for a more deluxe case like this one.

It's available in several colors and sizes, too, so you have a level of personalization that our other bags don't offer.

NOTE: These bags are shipped directly from our distributor, so expedited shipping options are not available. Additionally, we can only ship these to the continental USA, and only by UPS (no PO Boxes.)

The Bag's Features Include:

  • Two Padded zippered bow pockets
  • Five zippered exterior pockets
  • Backpack straps with sternum strap and self storage
  • Back cushion
  • Shoulder Strap with metal hardware
  • Robust heavy duty YKK-brand Zippers
  • Ballistic nylon Exterior, 1680 D gauge
  • 28 mm thick foam padding
  • All around protective zipper guard
  • 5 carry handles
  • 2 neon reflective strips
  • 4 rubber side protective feet
  • Available in 1/2, 3/4, 7/8, and 4/4 sizes

Details

The bag has smart features that show that the people who designed it understand a performing bass player's needs. For one, it has dual bow pockets, which are large enough to handle a fair selection of bow hard cases. 28mm of dense foam provides solid protection from the dings, bumps, and other hazards we encounter while lumbering around with our unwieldy musical instrument.

Brand-name YKK zippers have a generous underlay flap to prevent the zipper from contacting the wood finish of your precious bass. Several roomy pockets make it easy to bring accessories like tuners, extra strings, sheet music and folders, and more.

The backpack straps are useful who want to use them, but stowable in a way that takes them completely out of the way if you don't want to use them - and rather than just straps for each shoulder, it includes a "sternum strap" (a band than goes around the front of your body to secure the backpack straps) makes the use of the backpack features secure and useful. And the part that goes against your back even has extra padding for your comfort!

The endpin has a dedicated opening between the two main zipper closures, so you can always put the bass down without tearing up the bag. A heavy duty shoulder strap is included.

My Personal, Subjective Thoughts on the Available Colors

So, the Black, Gray and Black, Brown and Black, and Blue and Black bags are all pretty tasteful and low-key; the two-tone models have a little character without being "extra" (if I can steal a phrase from my 12-year old.)

The burgundy, yellow, green, orange models are... bright. Bordering on garish. If you like to stand out in a crowd, these colors will do it. The "burgundy" might be the most deceiving - I'd call it more of a "fuschia."

If you play in a school or college band and these colors match your school colors, go for it (my high school was black and orange, so I could see using that one back then, but not now.) But be forewarned - the colors are definitely... colorful.

Keep in mind when ordering that these ship in oversized boxes, which can be costly if you decide that the colors are too "loud" for your personal tastes - If you return it, you'll have to cover return shipping as well as the original outgoing shipping, if you go that route. I just want to give you fair notice.

INTERNAL MEASUREMENTS

These bags have pretty typical measurements, and generally fit most common instruments; but bass sizes can vary depending on the interpretations of the manufacturer. It's very important that you measure your bass to ensure fitment before ordering. We probably cannot tell you if your bass will fit, even if you tell us the make and model.

Please use the information below to determine whether the case will work for you! Internal measurements for the have been provided by the manufacturer.

Good protection, features could be better

Posted by Brent on Feb 19th 2024

This bass bag provides a good amount of padding and fairly rugged exterior for a gig bag. However I think the pockets and handles could be refined. I'm not sure why there are two pockets for bows? My double bow case doesn't quite fit in the bow pocket (just a bit too long). There are some handles but not quite in the best places and could use a few more especially when loading in and out of a car. Overall this thing is great, but could be improved upon.
