KAY and ENGELHARDT BASSES: Serial Number Lists
Trying to determine when your bass was made? Here's a convenient list of serial numbers from Kay basses and those of their successors, Engelhardt. The original Kay serial number list was originally compiled and published by Roger Stowers at his amazing Kay Bass resource site; the serial number list has now been duplicated extensively across the web, which is why I am sharing it with you here - but if you're looking for Kay information, his site is a great place to start!
INSTRUCTIONS: Each serial number on the chart is the FIRST bass made that year; if your bass comes after that number (but before the next year's first serial number on the chart) then your bass was made that year. So find the first number on the chart that is higher than the serial number on your bass - your bass was made the year before that.
Example 1: if your Kay Bass serial number is 25521, your bass was made in 1951.
Example 2: if your Engelhardt Bass serial number is 88000, your bass was made in 2005.
