Description

Carbon fiber is a high-tech material that lends itself well to a student-grade bow; it's very durable, which is important (especially for younger students, who can be - ahem - less careful than some of us). But it's also really resilient and consistent, so the bow will hold its curve, won't warp, and will generally stay consistent for the life of the bow.

BUT... carbon fiber things can be quite expensive. Especially when you get into the fancy woven fabric style of carbon fiber (and we do have some bows like that). So that - until now - has made Carbon Fiber impractical for a student level bow; a difficult irony to get around.

Now we have these wonderful entry-level bows from Gewa, which manage to incorporate the stiffness, consistency and durability of carbon fiber - as well as other really nice features usually found on more expensive bows - at a price that works for students, younger players, and casual part-time arco players.

Includes our exclusive Gollihur Music tipsheet to get the most out of your purchaseUnlike other "student" bows, they have REAL ebony frogs with inlaid mother-of-peral "eyes" and slide. They are also strung with real horse hair. The French bow has a fully lined frog, while the German is half-lined (as is typical.) The grip area is wound in nickel-silver and has a leatherette grip. The mechanics are very nice too - the French bow has a metal three-part button (screw), while the German bow has the traditional black screw - but adds a metal ring for smooth, reliable operation (and good looks!)

A wonderful alternative to an inexpensive wood bow, while this is generally considered a student model bow, it's actually got a really nice balance and tone.

It's an excellent choice for beginner or intermediate students, occasional use for someone who primarily plays pizzicato, or as a budget-friendly backup. They feature a metal under-slide, a leatherette grip, and unbleached genuine horsehair.
