HP-1 Personal In-Ear Headphone Monitor

You asked, we answered. A common "want" for upright bassists is the ability to self-monitor - a self-contained, (separate from the band's monitor system) way to just get their own instrument into their own ears, to help with hearing their intonation or to improve their confidence onstage or in the studio.

In that vein, we once had a small headphone amp (it tapped into the speaker cable on your amp) that worked for this purpose, but it was, admittedly, a bit complicated and kludgy to use. And, shortly after we started to carry it, it was unfortunately discontinued by the manufacturer, so we were back to the drawing board.

In my recent travels, though, I recently came across this nifty "headphone amp" that is useful and affordable; perfect for players who just want to do just that - monitor their own playing, independent of the equipment used by the rest of the band. The HP-1 is a compact, battery-powered headphone amplifier for players who prefer a wired connection for their in-ear monitors. It features a locking Combo input for XLR and 1/4" TRS connections, and an 1/8" headphone output with a volume control. The HP-1 is switchable for mono or stereo operation, and provides over 40 hours of performance from two AA batteries, which are included in the box!
