  • 110v AC Adaptor for Fishman Platinum Preamps

Description

The B-II Preamp has been a mainstay for many years, and the Pro-EQ II was a great performer for our thinner-stringed bandmates. But let's be honest, it was getting a little long in the tooth. And there are lots more options in the preamp game nowadays.

So Fishman did the right thing and stepped up their game. They've now combined the B-II and Pro-EQ II into a new model, added features, and made a belt-clippable preamp that just stands atop the heap.

With a high-headroom, Class-A preamp, you get uncompromised sound and clarity. The 3-Band EQ has a sweepable mid and a low-frequency filter (it's a three-position switch, not sweepable like the Platinum Pro). And you can switch the frequencies with the new "mode switch" -- optimize this preamp for use with bass, or with higher-pitched instruments, with just a flick of a switch!

Includes our exclusive Gollihur Music tipsheet to get the most out of your purchaseThe unit also has a new "boost" switch (a fingertip switch) with a level control, a phase control for helping in the fight against feedback, a NEW Balanced DI with Pre/Post setting (and an auto-ground lift). It also has a separate output for your stage amp on a ¼" jack. It can be powered by 9v battery, optional power adapter, or by phantom power coming in through the DI output.

At only 5.6" x 3.3" x 1.2" (143mm x 85mm x 30mm) the thing is compact, and even includes a belt-clip.

Despite all the knobs and switches, it's actually quite easy to follow - everything is where it should be. It's clear that they spent some real time working on the ergonomics of this new design. And like its big brother (the Platinum Pro EQ - see related items, below) it features a 10 megohm input impedance for excellent handling of high-impedance piezo-electric pickups.

An optional 110v power adaptor is available and can be purchased separately (below) or at a discount when ordered with the preamp. Fishman does not offer a 220v mains adaptor.

Should I get the Platinum Stage or the Platinum Pro?

Both of the Platinum series preamps from Fishman are an excellent choice, with both having transparent sound and lots of useful features. If you're struggling with the decision, though, here's a quick list of (most of) the meaningful differences between the two units.

    Platinum Stage Analog Preamplifier

Posted by Gary Quave on Nov 22nd 2024

This is a great preamp. I bought this to use with a passive NS Design 5 string. It sounds great with my small amp. It provides the boost that I need and gives me a lot of versatility. This is a necessary tool for an electric upright. I also love the clarity and definition it gives to my acoustic upright. If you are using a piezo pickup this preamp will greatly enrich your sound and make it easier to find the tones that you are looking for. I was not aware how beneficial a preamp could be until I talked to Mark. The information he gave me was very helpful.

Order arrived quickly. Read the instructions and hooked it up to my GK Legacy combo. Found a good EQ setting in about 5 minutes. Feed back is almost non existent. Running a KK Bass Max. Love the small size! Also works for my P Bass!
