Description

Gold Tone offers three different options for strings for their popular M-Bass and ME-Bass models. Here's some information about each, all on one page so you can get an idea of how they differ.

MBS-BL MicroBass Thunderblack Rubber/Polymer Strings (Black Package)

The Aquila Thunderblacks are made of a polymer, specially designed to sound great and (according to Gold Tone) play better than any other bass uke rubber string. This set can be used on all of our M-Bass and ME-Bass guitars. They are the stock, OEM string on the M-Basses.

  • Polymer strings, developed by Aquila for the best performance and tone.
  • String Gauges vary depending on tension that the strings are under.

MicroBass LaBella 'Silverback' Silver-Wrapped Nylon Strings (Brown/Silver Package)

NEW! Gold Tone's designers have teamed up with La Bella strings to produce a new string option for our M-Bass line. These specially designed strings are ideal for those players that prefer bass strings with a more conventional feel. NOTE: Fits M-Bass 23" or 25" (Fretted or Unfretted), and ME-Bass, as well as any 'Bass Uke'-style instrument.

Gold Tone partnered with Labella Strings and after extensive testing created a revolutionary new string for 'Bass Ukuleles'. These strings have a nylon core with a double silver-plated copper wrap. By far, they are the loudest and can be easily heard on the acoustic M-Basses in an acoustic jam.

Since it is a round-wound string, they feel very similar to Rotosound strings. All nylon strings require a break-in period, so don't install immediately before a gig!

Once they are settled (1-2 days), the pitch remains consistent. The sound is more acoustic than the steels. The intonation is accurate and reacts much quicker to machine head button turns (compared to the rubber "Thunderguts")

These strings are perfect for any M-Bass.

  • Nylon core, covered with a double-silver-plated copper wrap.
  • Acoustic (unplugged) output is nearly twice as loud as traditional rubber-based strings.
  • Play and feel similar to a set of conventional electric bass strings.
  • String Gauges: .115, .090, .065, .049

MBLS MicroBass LaBella Flat Wound Strings (Red/Peach Package)

These LaBella Flat Wound Strings are designed for use with the Micro-Bass line. The feel is identical to flatwound bass strings and the tone is more similar to a Fender P-Bass, making them a great choice for a bass player used to playing traditional flatwound strings. A great way to get that more traditional "electric" sound while still keeping the M-Bass' signature portability and ease of playing.

NOTE: Can be used on ME-Bass or fretless M-Bass (cannot be used on fretted M-Bass). Why? these are designed primarily for use on the ME-Bass and may have intonation issues on the acoustic Microbass 23 or 25.

  • Tape wound metal, most like regular bass strings.
  • String Gauges: .048, .068, .088, .108
