(Keep It Simple, Stupid!)
If you're a low muss, low fuss kind of player - the type who just wants to plug in and get great sound without twidding a bunch of knobs and learning about fancy features - this might be a great, high-fidelity option. Fire-Eye makes really smart, well-designed and built preamps and audio tools that give great sound. But if you don't need the extended features of their more involved preamps like the Red-Eye and the Red-Eye Twin, this little guy does the important stuff - only - and is as easy as it gets.
It's a simple solution for connecting instruments with high-impedance piezoelectric pickups (like your bass with a pickup on it) to most any bass amp without dealing with the ugly alterations of your tone that can come from a mismatched impedance (resistance) in your signal, which is a common problem. If your sound is "quacky" or "hollow" or "boomy" without making any adjustments to your amp's EQ, this might be what you're dealing with. And the high impedance on the input of this small unit should fix that. And any passive or active instrument pickup is supported.
Get one of these in your hands - you can tell just by the feel of it, and you can open it up to verify it: Fire-Eye products are crafted from the highest quality components available. The Fire-Eye products are designed by an electronics engineer with over 50 years of professional experience.
Plug in, and you will get high fidelity, low noise and simple plug and play performance. It's got a switch to alter the tone; you can reduce the highs a little for a less "clacky" sound. It's very easy to play with (and see if you like the result) but you can also run it "flat." And the silent kick-switch button allows you to choose between "un-boosted" volume and a separate "boosted" volume, which is really handy for the upright bassist...
Here's how you might find the "boost" function useful:
- You can use it to have a "regular volume" and a "solo volume" for when you take a solo and want to "pop out" of the mix.
- You can use the regular volume for when you play arco (with a bow), and set the "boost" to bring your pizzicato (plucked) volume up to match the arco volume level (with a pickup, bowed sounds are always much louder since it's a sustained attack) Having two instantly accessible volume levels at the kick of a switch makes it easy to balance them!
Yes, it's a simple design: input, optional volume/boost, output, done. This no-frills precision approach to amplification offers a truly satisfying tonal experience for musicians and their audience without requiring an advanced degree to operate.
A simple, buffer pedal with clean boost for acoustic instrumentalists.
The Bright-Eye is a clean boost and buffer pedal that uses a 9V or 18V center-negative power supply, bringing the hi-fidelity signal-conditioning circuitry of the Red-Eye Preamp to a pedal-train format.
- Input: high-impedance, 1 million ohms, maximum 12 volt peak-peak level.
- Low-impedance output, 600 ohms, will drive all guitar pedals and amps effectively.
- Clean, unclipped, output level, 9V power: 5V peak-peak, 18V power: 12V peak-peak

- High-Quality Switchcraft 1/4-inch input, output and power jacks.
- Boost button with volume control and boost light.
- A light beam and photocell control boost to eliminate all button noise and popping.
- A Mode switch selects flat or shaped frequency response.
- Uses standard 9 or 18-volt pedal board, Boss-style, power: (center-negative, center-ground). (We offer an add-on AC/DC power adapter option, or you may already have one in your collection!)
- Internal filtering to reject radio-frequency interference from neon lights and cell phones.
- Small Size: 1.25 x 1.5 x 3.75 inches. Weight: 6 ounces.
