Description

Includes our exclusive Gollihur Music tipsheet to get the most out of your purchaseHidersine's is an affordable all-weather rosin, made in England, and if you're just looking for a general-purpose rosin, or are dipping your toes in the water, it's among the most affordable choices and will certainly do the job for you.

It comes in three different variants; #1, #2, and #3. The formulations are "harder" as they go up the numeric scale, so #1 is best for colder weather (and drier) climates, and the #3 is best for hotter, more humid areas. If you're unsure, the #2 is a good "average" stickiness and softness.

Large, Square, Amber cake.

Rosin is key in getting a good bowed sound, so don't cheap out on this key ingredient to success, it can last a long time - and isn't very expensive. In fact, some bassists carry two or three different cakes just in case the environment makes another consistency better for that particular situation. When the humidity is high, the more powdery, harder rosin is usually best, and during very dry periods some stickier stuff may be needed.

New players: I include my tip sheet covering the care and usage of rosin.

    Better than average

Posted by Randy Archer on Mar 19th 2023

I purchased the No. 2 and No 3. to use as stocking stuffers this past Christmas for my son. He is an intermediate middle school bassist. I thought the No. 3 would be particularly useful when the do their spring and summer outdoor concerts. We're in Georgia so the heat and humidity can be a problem. He says that the No. 2 is way better than the Pops he was using; but, not quite as good as the Kolstein. He hasn't had a chance to use the No. 3 yet.
