Description

Includes our exclusive Gollihur Music tipsheet to get the most out of your purchaseKolstein's exacting research and development has brought us their Ultra Formulation Supreme rosin. Well-known for its low powdering and smooth, easy bowing. Now all Kolstein Ultra Rosin is encased in a special silicone "wrap" which keeps the rosin fresh longer - which is, in turn, inside a cardboard storage container with lid.

We have All Weather/Regular, Soft, and Hard formulations available, so you can tailor your choice to your preference and/or climate.

Rosin is key in getting a good bowed sound, so don't cheap out on this key ingredient to success, it can last a long time - and isn't very expensive. In fact, some bassists carry two or three different cakes just in case the environment makes another consistency better for that particular situation. When the humidity is high, the more powdery, harder rosin is usually best, and during very dry periods some stickier stuff may be needed.

New players: I include my tip sheet covering the care and usage of rosin.

Made a convert of my double bass teacher

Posted by Rickey Steverson on Dec 5th 2023

Putting together a bow and rosin package as a total beginner I choose Kolstein. First session with my teacher he was recommending Pop's as the standard rosin until he took my bow and rosin to demonstrate how to use it. After getting over his surprise that I didn't have Pop's (he's owns a Kolstein bass for years but have not considered their rosin) he have decided to switch to Kostein for his own use.

    A total "go-to" rosin

Posted by Matthew Rybicki on Feb 16th 2023

When the conditions aren't perfect, I've found this rosin to be the most consistently usable compared to other brands. Right amount of "sticky" - not too much or too little. Recommend!

    Pops Lite

The soft version is a great rosin for people like me who find Pops just a touch too gummy but still want a soft rosin. I live in a variable climate but still use the soft rosin all year round.

    My favorite rosin!

Kolstein's Soft blend rosin has been my go-to for several years now. It holds up extremely well through vastly different climates on the road, and just feels great to use.
